I will watch anything James McAvoy is in, as he’s one of my favorite actors working today. His performance in X-Men: Days of Future Past shows that good acting and superhero movies don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Meanwhile, the little-seen British film Filth is one of those movies that I would definitely not have watched if it wasn’t for him. Ostensibly the story of a crooked policeman losing his mind, this is a movie that is all about drugs, insanity, violence, sex, hatred, and every other nasty thing you can think of. It’s an incredibly odd film, making Trainspotting look tame by comparison, but it is saved by an absolutely stunning performance by McAvoy. Honestly, I’m not even sure if I liked the film or not, but McAvoy is just so damned amazing in it that I absolutely loved it. My man-crush list may be constantly evolving, but James McAvoy is currently number one on it!http://blog.timesunion.com/movies/the-top-20-movie-tv-moments-in-2014/14436/

Serious congrats to @JoFroggatt on her Golden Globe win for Downton. One of the best actors and nicest people I've ever worked with. #Filth

James McAvoy was a "huge energy ball" while filming 'Filth'.
According to the movie's director, John S. Baird, the 35-year-old actor was always in high spirits on the set of the comedy drama - which was released in 2013 - making him "incredible" to work with.
He said: "James is full of life. He's a huge energy ball. He's actually currently starring in a theatre production called The Ruling Class. He's as good in that as he is in Filth.
"He's just incredible. A ball of momentum and energy and madness. I'd love to work with him again."
The Scottish director added the 'Atonement' star also liked to have a laugh off set and revealed he "clicked" with the Port Glasgow-born actor after getting to know him over a drink.
He explained: "We clicked, we clicked and we're very close. When you've got a few days off, you know, for turnaround and stuff you can get to know him a bit better. We never did it when we were actually shooting. It was always on days off or the weeks off, in between moving countries and stuff."

In the week where the new Trainspotting film released its first trailer, the writers have revealed their favourite adaptations, including Irvine Welsh, who picks his own book Trainspotting, as does author Lemn Sissay and broadcaster and comedian Susan Calman.
The choices, given to the Scottish Book Trust, were revealed as the Book Week Scotland celebration continues to ask the public to vote for its own favourite adaptation – readers are being asked to choose from a short list of 40 on the event’s website. Welsh said: “All I can really say about that is the genius of it lies with John Hodge [screenwriter of Trainspotting].
“Like Jon Baird with Filth, he knows when to leave source material alone, when to alter it and when to add new stuff in order to make a story in a book fly cinematically.”
Actor Gregor Fisher chose Whisky Galore!, from the book by Compton Mackenzie; former Business Secretary Vince Cable selected the film version of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark; while author Susan Fletcher plumped for Morvern Callar, the film made by Lynne Ramsay from Alan Warner’s book.
Author AL Kennedy has chosen another film based on a book by Irvine Welsh, saying: “The adaptation of Filth, because the director really loved it, and really thought about how to make that film work, and was a proper, obsessed enthusiast for it.
“And James McAvoy is just genius in it, and really understands how to be somebody that dark, I mean it’s an amazing performance.”http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/homenews/14847454.Big_names_pick_favourite_books_adapted_for_screen/
